Irish Trip August 2016
We just spent 10 wonderful days in Ireland. See
photos here
. This was a musical tour organized by
Janet Feld
a guitar instructor from the Passim School of Music. Normal tourist attractions during the day and music in the evening. Our group was only 6 people plus a guide making it a very intimate tour.
We flew from Boston to Shannon airport on 8/19. From there we went to Kinvara, County Galway for a few days. With Kinvara as a base we explored the Burren, Inisheer Island and the Cliffs of Moher. In the evening we went to various sessions at pubs in Kinvara and Doolin.
Then on to Dingle in County Kerry. Again exploring the country side during the day and exceptional music in the evening. Totally unexpectedly we ran into Gerry O'Beirne one of my favorite Irish songwriters.
We moved on to Skibereen County Cork for the last part of the formal tour. As the rest of the tour flew back home we took a train to Dublin. For three days we explored the city, took in a major exhibit on the Rising and of course found music in the pubs.
